THE PLACE
WeatherEye stretches along the upper ridgeline of Red Mountain, where steep slopes and shallow soils range from dune sand to fractured basalt. Block 9 sits high on the windswept north face and brings together five Syrah clones, giving the wine both concentration and detail.

TASTING NOTES
Black plum and blackberry form the fruit core, surrounded by black olive, charred herbs, crushed rock, and a suggestion of smoked meat. The palate is deep and structured, with fine, sinewy tannins and a savory mineral tension that keeps the wine focused. Graphite, anise, and warm spice emerge with air as the fruit becomes increasingly expressive.

PAIRINGS
• Grilled lamb with rosemary
• Duck with lentils
• Pork shoulder with fennel
• Roasted eggplant with herbs and yogurt

IN THE CELLAR
• Hand-picked and field sorted; 100% whole cluster
• Four-day cold soak; foot-tread at the start of fermentation
• Native fermentation in open-top fermenters
• 33 days on skins
• 22 months on lees in a new 1000L Stockinger cask
• Racked once; bottled unfined and unfiltered

IN YOUR GLASS
Give it air. The savory and mineral elements show first, while the dark fruit and spice gather with time. Decanting will open it more quickly; a large glass lets the wine reveal itself at its own pace.
